You’ve got your mason jars (thanks emission-free delivery, you make life extra awesome), and now you’re wondering: what else do I need to make refilling less of a messy why-is-this-happening-to-me type of situation? Getting toothpaste and hand cream into tubes… we see you.
The answer?

Mason top pour cap
These eliminate the inevitable spillage that occurs when pouring liquids from a wide mouth jar into containers with a narrow opening– think dish soap, hand soap and shampoo bottles. They’re easy to clean (dishwasher safe, too), BPA-free and are so versatile that Soap Fairy Rachel has one in the kitchen, bathroom and laundry room because of how often she uses them in each space.
Funnels
If you were to pick one item from this list, funnels would be it. From liquids to gels and creams, they will never steer you wrong. Especially when you are refilling smaller containers (think mini spray bottles, toothpaste tubes, and squeeze bottles), controlling the creamy blop (technical term) that can pour out of a mason jar is crucial. Use the funnel instead of or alongside the Mason Top Pour Cap for refilling shampoo, hand soap, dish soap, all-purpose spray, and laundry soap.
Best Funnel Uses For Refilling
- Quick pouring liquids (ie: all-purpose spray, disinfectant, sanitizer, etc.)
- Containers with narrow necks (ie: shampoo, conditioner, dish soap, hand soap, laundry detergent)
- Thicker products that need the hands-free refill method (ie: hand cream, face cream, and conditioner)
Hands-Free Refill Method
- Grab squeeze tube, large funnel, 250 mL mason jar, and your cream refill. (Make sure your funnel has been washed with soap and water before bringing it into contact with personal care products.)
- Put the funnel into the squeeze tube and place them inside the 250 mL mason jar (so that it can rest up against the side without needing to be held)
- Find a corner on your counter against the wall and place the cream refill upside into the funnel, making sure it is secure and leaning on the wall or close by.
- Let gravity do its magic and leave the refill undisturbed for half an hour.
- If there is still more that needs to be added to the tube, check back every 15 minutes to avoid any overflows.

What to do with your Saponetti Refill Jar
If you still have product left in your Saponetti Refill jar: Place the lid back on your jar and store it in a cool dark place until your next refill.
If your Saponetti Refill Jar is empty: Give the container and lid a thorough rinse with soap and water and place the clean container into your Brown Saponetti Bag for pick up (upon your next delivery), or bring it back to the store for your deposit in return.
Spatula
You wouldn’t believe how much extra soap there is lining a jar once most of the contents have been poured out (if you’ve ever run a mason jar that had dish soap in it underwater, you know what we mean– the seemingly endless bubble volcano is very real). Enter a spatula that reaches the bottom and has the right angles to scrape the curves of a mason jar.
Pair the spatula with the funnel for maximum ease and precision.
